About Rio Fiber

We're digging up
our own town.

Rio Fiber is a Rio Broadband company, laying fiber street by street across Horseshoe Bay. Real glass in the ground, running all the way to the wall of your house — not to a cabinet down the road.

Our network

Fiber the whole way, not most of the way

"Fiber" gets used loosely. Cable networks run fiber to a neighborhood cabinet and then copper coax for the last stretch to your house — that last stretch is where the speed, the upload limit and the peak-hour congestion come from. Rio runs glass the entire way, into a box on your exterior wall. That's what makes upload match download, and what stops your evening looking different from your morning.

We build in phases, street by street, because that's the only way a network this size gets funded and finished. Which street comes next isn't arbitrary — it's decided by cost to reach and by how many households on it have told us they want it.

What we won't do

The three promises that shape everything else

These are easier to state than to keep, so we've built them into how the site works rather than just writing them here.

We won't tell you we serve you when we don't

Our address checker reads the same as-built map our crews work from, and it will tell you no — and tell you why. On Applehead Island it names the actual reason: the streets are concrete, which makes our normal method far more expensive. That's a worse sales pitch and a better answer.

We won't quote an install we haven't looked at

Every home is different — how far it sits from the street, what's between here and there, how it's wired inside. We survey first, quote in writing, and don't charge you for installation before that.

We won't lock you in

No contract, no early-termination fee, no bundle you have to keep to hold your price, and no separate equipment charge — the gateway is ours, its rental is already in your monthly price, and it comes back to us if you go. If we're not better than what you had, leave.

Local isn't a slogan here

The people who built your line are the people who answer the phone

830-224-0000 reaches Rio Broadband, Monday through Friday, 8am–5pm Central. The crews are local, the trucks are local, and when something goes wrong there's a person here who can put one in your driveway. That's the part a national provider structurally cannot match — and the part we'd ask you to hold us to.
